Web Design in Dallas, Texas

A fixed price, a scope in writing, and a date the site goes live — instead of a monthly retainer that quietly becomes a line item nobody remembers approving.

The Dallas problem

Dallas prices creative work like everybody has a corporate budget.

Dallas is a headquarters city. National agencies keep floors in Uptown, studios fill the Design District, and a good share of the marketing spend in North Texas is decided by people with a department behind them. That concentration is good for the city. It also sets the going rate for a website — and that rate was never calculated for a six-person business.

Most of the people who call us about Dallas aren’t that company. A shop in Bishop Arts. A studio off Deep Ellum. A contractor running crews out of a yard in Oak Cliff, a clinic on Greenville, a firm with eleven employees and one person who ended up owning the website because nobody else would. They get scoped like a brand with a media budget, because that’s the number the city has normalised — then they wait three weeks for a proposal that opens with a discovery phase.

The gap isn’t quality. Dallas has superb designers. The gap is that the machinery around them — the account layer, the monthly minimum, the retainer that renews itself — exists to keep an agency staffed, not to get one business a website.

Sound familiar?

How the retainer usually goes.

Nobody wrote down what was included.

Four months in, the thing you assumed was in scope turns out to be a change order.

You’re still billing monthly for a site that stopped changing in March.

The work finished. The invoice didn’t. Cancelling feels like an argument, so it waits another quarter.

Leaving means starting over.

The hosting is on their account, the domain sits in their registrar, and the platform doesn’t travel.

None of that is dishonest. It’s how a business built to bill monthly has to operate. We’re built the other way.

What it costs

The number, before the call.

Two ways in, both quoted in public — including when the honest answer is that you need less than you were about to buy.

Proof

Ten years with one Texas client, renewed by choice.

Switch Commerce processes ATM transactions out of Texas, and we’ve been their design and marketing team for over a decade — a full rebrand, the website, the words, the trade show floor, the print, and the design system that keeps all of it one brand. It never needed a contract to hold it together. They send a message, and people who already know the business handle it.

That’s the honest version of a long relationship: not a retainer somebody forgot to cancel, but ten years of being asked back. If your website is a one-time project, treat it as one.

How we work with Dallas businesses

Denton, about forty miles north of downtown.

New Journey Designs is based in Denton and works across the whole Metroplex. There’s no Dallas office and we’re not going to pretend there is. Forty miles is 35E and a coffee, so we come to you in person whenever a project is better for it. The rest of the time we work on whichever line suits you — a Zoom, or a phone call on a Saturday morning. Which one hardly matters. Being reachable does.

Every site is hand-written HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with no heavy framework in front of your words — fast on a phone on a bad connection, with your copy in the source where search engines and AI assistants can read it. Not sure the site is your actual problem? Seven quiet signs it’s costing you business is a ten-minute diagnostic. Otherwise, email info@newjourneydesigns.com.

Straight answers

What Dallas clients ask first.

Do you have an office in Dallas?

No. We work out of Denton and serve the whole Metroplex, Dallas included. We’ll meet you in person when a project genuinely benefits from it and work over video when it doesn’t. We’d rather say that than rent a mailbox downtown and imply otherwise.

Why is your price so much lower than the Dallas agencies we’ve talked to?

Because you aren’t paying for what makes an agency expensive. No account layer between you and the people building the site, no monthly minimum, and no hours spent re-explaining your business to somebody new every quarter. The people who design it write the code.

Can a small business site actually rank in a market this crowded?

That isn’t ours to promise, and nobody honest promises it — not for a generic term against a national chain, and not for anything else. What we control is a site that loads fast, states your services and service area in plain language, and carries the structured data search engines and AI assistants read before deciding whether to mention you.

What happens if we want to leave?

You leave, and there’s nothing to untangle. Hosting, your domain, and your Google Workspace account are in your name and billed to you directly — nothing resold, nothing marked up. Parting ways means removing our access, not migrating anything.
